Yoga: Strengthening the Protectors of Society
June 21 - Yoga Day
"Yoga is not merely an exercise; it is the art of living in harmony with oneself and with society."
— Dr. Ravipati Prasad
The health and well-being of a nation depend greatly on the dedication and fitness of its Police Force, whose members work tirelessly to maintain law and order, protect citizens, and uphold justice. Their demanding profession requires physical strength, mental alertness, emotional resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to public service. In this context, Yoga—India's timeless gift to humanity—offers a holistic approach to achieving and sustaining excellent physical, mental, and emotional health.
The International Day of Yoga celebrations held on 21 June 2026 at the Police Parade Grounds, Ongole, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, reflected the Andhra Pradesh Police Department's commitment to promoting wellness and preventive healthcare among its personnel. The enthusiastic participation of police personnel from all ranks highlighted the importance of healthy living as the foundation of professional excellence.
A major highlight of the programme was the inspiring Yoga training conducted by Dr. Ravipati Prasad, an eminent Yoga therapist and dedicated promoter of holistic health. Holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga, Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy, M.Sc. in Yoga Therapy, and an MBA in Hospital Management, Dr. Ravipati Prasad combines traditional yogic wisdom with modern scientific understanding. Through Patanjali Yoga Kendra, located at Prasad Multi Speciality Hospital, Santhapeta, Ongole, he has been actively promoting Yoga as an effective means of disease prevention, stress management, rehabilitation, and overall wellness.
During the programme, Dr. Ravipati Prasad conducted an engaging and informative training session that combined practical demonstrations with scientific explanations. He emphasized that Yoga is a complete system of healthy living, incorporating Asanas, Pranayama, meditation, relaxation techniques, disciplined lifestyle, balanced nutrition, and positive thinking. The participants experienced the benefits of proper breathing, stretching, relaxation, and meditation, while learning how regular Yoga practice can reduce occupational stress, improve concentration, enhance physical endurance, strengthen immunity, and promote emotional balance.
The enthusiastic participation of police personnel demonstrated their commitment to improving personal health and professional readiness. A physically fit and mentally resilient police force is better equipped to serve society with efficiency, integrity, compassion, and courage.
The outstanding contribution of Dr. Ravipati Prasad deserves sincere appreciation. His scholarly guidance, practical approach, and inspiring training motivated participants to adopt Yoga as a lifelong discipline rather than a one-day celebration. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to the Andhra Pradesh Police, the organizers of the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds, Ongole, and especially to Dr. Ravipati Prasad for his exemplary service in promoting health, wellness, and holistic living among those who dedicate their lives to protecting society.
