Music
I play guitar, bass, keyboard, and electronic music. During my time as an undergraduate student, I was highly engaged in the music scene. I participated in a captivating music venture called 'Mahatronic Saxoperimento,' which blended electronic and ethnic elements, where I contributed as a keyboardist and electronic musician. I also have a solo music project called 'Tokiotronik' (you can listen to one of my compositions here).
I also really love to listen to various types of music. In particular, some genres/musicians that I am really fond of are:
Shoegaze, because nothing is better than this perfect harmony of wall-of-sound, noise, and sea of feedback: My Bloody Valentine (priceless!), Ride, and Japanese shoegaze bands.
Music from Manchester rock scene: English rock bands such as The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Joy Division and New Order.
Chillhop / Jazz Hop: Nujabes and Uyama Hiroto's music is just perfect for studying and daydreaming.
Here are my five favourite albums to date:
Mezzanine (artist: Massive Attack)
Blue Album (artist: Weezer)
Her Watch (artist: Lamp)
OK Computer (artist: Radiohead)
Loveless (artist: My Bloody Valentine)
Books
I am an avid reader and I really love to read thought-provoking books, some of my favourites are:
Fiction: Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov), Tetralogi Buru (Pramoedya Ananta Toer), The Old Man and The Sea (Ernest Hemingway), The Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck), and The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoevsky), 1984 (George Orwell).
Non-Fiction: A History of Western Philosophy (Bertrand Russell), Manufacturing Consent (Noam Chomsky), The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in The Dark (Carl Sagan), The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution (Richard Dawkins).
