Pramudita Satria Palar, Ph.D.

Hello!

I am currently working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung - ITB), Indonesia. Prior to my current position, I was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University, Japan. During my postdoctoral position, I also visited Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science at Leiden University as a visiting researcher.

My research interests are primarily in the areas of computationally expensive optimization, surrogate model, statistical and machine learning, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis, and their applications in aerospace, aerodynamic design, biomedical, and general engineering.  My study heavily employs surrogate models, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to assist engineering design and analyses.

I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Tokyo, Japan. I conducted my Ph.D.  research on multi-objective aerodynamic robust optimization, where I developed and investigated a surrogate-assisted memetic algorithm method and a multi-fidelity uncertainty quantification technique based on polynomial chaos expansion. During my doctoral study,  I was also a visiting researcher at the Engineering Design Center of the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and wrote several collaborative papers with the Center.

In 2023, I was an Invited Assistant Professor at ISAE-SUPAERO, France.

Just for fun, I describe myself as an ESPER (Engineer, Scientist, Probabilist, Educator, and Rationalist).
