We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented research associate / research assistant (RA) to support our research in the field of energy and environmental economics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics, with a particular focus on energy economics, and experience in conducting research in a professional or academic setting. As a RA, you will be experiencing the use of statistical analysis, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting the development of reports and publications.
Key areas to work:
Construction and cleaning of data: Downloading data from public domain in pdf, Excel or any other form and constructing data including the desired variables, cleaning and checking data for empirical analysis.
Writing codes in STATA, R or Python for empirical analysis like OLS, IV, difference in difference and other simple ones.
Drafting description of analysis, literature reviews, abstracts, introduction sections as the case may be.
Preparing publication quality result tables as per instructions
Managing references: Creating and managing reference databases using software like Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero.
Extracting data from research papers in an Excel template: Extracting relevant data from research papers and organizing it in an Excel template for further analysis.
Proofreading, rewriting articles, blogs, and essays: Proofreading and editing articles, blogs, and essays for grammar, spelling, and clarity; rewriting sections as necessary.
Conduct statistical analysis on energy and environmental economics, including market trends, policies, and regulations as per instructions
Collect and analyze data related to energy production, consumption, and pricing
Support the development of research reports, publications, and presentations
Prepare data visualizations and other graphics to support research findings
Conduct literature reviews and summarize research findings as per instructions
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in economics, statistics, or a related field
Strong quantitative skills, including experience with statistical software (such as Stata, R, or Python). Experience with data visualization software (such as Tableau).
Strong writing and communication skills
Experience with research methods and data analysis
Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
This is a remote and part-time learning opportunity that requires a weekly commitment of at least 20 hours, which could also be a great side hustle for researchers / academicians / students who are looking to earn additional income while building their research skills. The RA will be required to arrange for their resources to learn and work- e.g. laptop, internet and other material at their own cost. Screening of applications, interviews and joining would be on rolling basis).
This Research Associate / Research Assistant position is a temporary position like an internship and not a job. While the extension of RA would be fully on mutual interest and at our discretion, lack of candidate’s commitment to learn and satisfactory performance would result in the contraction/termination of the RA even before the due 6 months period. Upon successful completion of the Research Project (6months), the RA will be awarded a certificate of completion. At our discretion, we may also entertain requests from RAs for a recommendation letter for higher education, limited to a maximum of 3 places.
