Welcome! I am a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in the Math Department at Johns Hopkins University.
Previously, I completed my PhD in mathematics at Cornell University. My thesis, Finite Groups, Polymatroids, and Error Correcting Codes, was advised by Ed Swartz. Before grad school, I attended Swarthmore College where I received a BA with high honors in math and physics.
I am especially excited about teaching undergraduates at the start of their mathematical journey and in learning more about how to be an effective instructor and train effective instructors. In addition, I care deeply about making my classroom and math communities places where everyone feels supported and has the resources and structures they need to succeed. I have been particularly involved in groups supporting gender minorities in mathematics. As an undergrad, I was an officer for Swarthmore's Women+ In Math/Stat group (now GeMs); in grad school, I held a variety of positions in Cornell's chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).
Outside of work, I enjoy dancing, crocheting, knitting, board games, and puzzles.
The best way to contact me is by email. Johns Hopkins emails have the format JHED ID @ jh . edu. My JHED ID is pwentwo2.
