Visit Prairie Arboretum Disc Golf Course

The Prairie Arboretum Disc Golf Course is located within the Prairie Arboretum in Freeman, South Dakota.

The course combines mature trees, ponds, prairie areas, technical fairways and scenic Arboretum features to create a disc golf experience unlike a typical city-park course.

Visitors are welcome to come specifically to play disc golf, explore the Arboretum or make the course part of a larger trip through southeastern South Dakota.

Directions & Parking

The Prairie Arboretum is located in Freeman, South Dakota, with convenient access from Highway 81 and the surrounding regional highway system.

Regular disc golf parking is available on the west side of the Arboretum off Cedar Street.

Traveling with a camper, motorhome, trailer or larger vehicle?

The west-side parking area is relatively small, so campers and big rigs should use the larger north parking area, where there is considerably more room to enter, park and maneuver.

Public restrooms are available at the Prairie Arboretum Visitor Center.

The Arboretum also includes picnic areas, benches, gardens, ponds, walking areas, an amphitheater, bridges and other places to explore before or after your round.

As the disc golf course continues to develop, additional player amenities are planned throughout the property.

There is more to see than just the course.

Take some time before or after your round to explore the Prairie Arboretum, including its gardens, tree collections, ponds, sculptures, bridges and landscaped areas.

Freeman also offers places to eat, fuel up and pick up supplies, making it easy to turn your round into a longer stop.

Traveling Through South Dakota?

Freeman can be an excellent disc golf stop for players traveling through southeastern South Dakota.

The Arboretum is roughly 30 minutes south of Interstate 90 via Highway 81, making it an easy side trip for players crossing South Dakota.

It can also fit naturally into trips through the Sioux Falls, Yankton, Mitchell and southeastern South Dakota region.

If you're traveling with a camper or RV, the larger north parking area makes the Arboretum especially convenient as a road-trip disc golf stop.
