Mission

The Computational Sciences Department at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory was founded in early 2021 to support the Office of Fusion Energy Science's efforts to establish the knowledge basis needed to develop a fusion energy source and to expand our understanding of matter at very high temperatures and densities, and also to support broader DOE mission elements, such as to analyze, model, simulate, and predict complex phenomena important to the Department of Energy (the ASCR mission) and to advance entirely new ways to generate energy by supporting the development of high-potential, high-impact energy technologies (ARPA-E).

We support world-class plasma physics research and energy applications, and develop novel computational methods with applications across the whole of science and engineering today.
