Explorer Program
This page was created in the hopes that if enough people show interest within the community and voice that interest to us either in person, by phone, or via our Facebook page that we may consider starting a Fire/EMS Explorer Post or Junior Firefighter Program for the interested youth in our Township.
The following information was gathered from the Exploring Website, until we can create more content relevant to our department.
Fire & EMS Career Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women from the 6th grade to 20 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of fire or emergency services.
For students who dream of saving lives and making a difference in their community there’s no better introduction than Fire & EMS Career Exploring. Participants will learn how to serve others and develop specialized skills that can literally save lives, while making network connections that can help them take their first steps into their dream career.

Fire & EMS Career Exploring combines some classroom training with hands-on lessons. You get to experience firsthand what it’s like to be a fire fighter, emergency services coordinator, shelter manager, paramedic and so much more!

Most fire & EMS Explorer posts meet at local fire stations or medical facilities. We take visits to fire training centers, neighboring fire & EMS facilities, professional conferences and more. We provide opportunities to participate in national events and regional training sessions.
When do Explorers meet?
Explorer posts and clubs typically meet on a bi-monthly basis during the school year with the specifics being determined by the local adult advisors.
The Fire & EMS Career Exploring program is delivered through local participating agencies such as the city fire departments & government agencies. Programs are flexible enough to fit in with other activities during the year to meet the needs of the host organization and the youth participants.
How much does it cost?
Annual program participation fee is $24. Individual programs may request an additional program fee and would be determined by the local Explorer post or club.
