A long-term goal of my laboratory is to elucidate the fundamental pathways that govern how our body makes, stores, and utilizes lipids. Dysregulation of lipid metabolism underlies many of today’s most prevalent chronic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even certain infectious diseases. By uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism, we aim to provide insights leading novel preventive and/or therapeutic strategies for combating metabolic disorders.
