As defined by the Association for Positive Behavior Supports, "Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a set of research-based strategies used to increase quality of life and decrease problem behavior by teaching new skills and making changes in a person's environment." PBIS has been a evidenced-based approach to improving behavior in classroom and school-side setting. According to Dian Schaffhauser's 2018 article PBIS Positively Impacts Student Discipline, "A new study from Tulane University found that following a data-driven approach to student behavior correlated with a decrease in disciplinary incidents by as much as a quarter to almost three-quarters."
