Join us on Sunday 13th August 2023 for our annual 10k.
The race is organised by Port Glasgow Runners, a running group for people in Port Glasgow and the surrounding area to get fit.
The race takes place in the historic Clyde side town of Port Glasgow with many sights to see along the route including the 1815 Town Buildings, Gourock Rope Works, Kelburn Park, Newark Castle and of course, spectacular views of the River Clyde. If that's not enough to entice you along, you will be in awe of the newly built 'Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow' sculptures located within the Coronation Park. The sculptures, known locally as 'the Skelpies', are a fantastic sight that will greet you are enter the finishing straight of the race.
The race is ran under UK Athletics Rules.
The run starts and finishes at the Coronation Park (see map below) located in the centre of the town which on the site of the East & West Harbour. There will be some slight adjustments to the 2023 course - further details will be provided.
This race is run on pavements and is suitable for all participants provided that you are fit enough to run/walk 10k. Participants must be aged 15 years old or older on the day of the race.
The organisers are being assisted by an extensive number of voluntary marshals. The safety of all is paramount and it is a condition of entry that competitors must follow the instructions of the marshals. Always take care when crossing roads and be respectful to all other users, you do not have right away.

The course offers excellent viewing areas for spectators who wish to follow the runners progress along the course. Or, if you prefer, you can shop in the local town and new retail park. The Coronation Park has recently upgraded it's playparks to include an accessible play area for children. Why not bring the family and make the most of the day out.

Volunteer
For the event to run smoothly we require the help of volunteers. We have a range of duties you could do and none are too technical. If you are interested in any of the positions please email us and we can allocate you to a position or if you have a preferred volunteering role let us know.
Race marshals - Support runners by guiding them at various points of the course
Time keepers - Take note of race numbers, position and times. This is job that requires several volunteers on the day
Tail runner - To accompany the back runners to complete the event and encourage others along the way
Cyclist(s) - Lead the front runners along the route
Photographers - Nothing beats a good photograph of participant during the event. If you are looking to build your portfolio or just want to support the event we would welcome you on the day. There are various excellent positions to capture amazing photographs along the route.
