2022 Race Report

After a 3 year break, the Port Glasgow 10k was run on the 26th of June 2022. The race started and stopped in Coronation Park and took place over pavements and paths in Port Glasgow from Kingston Dock to Kelburn Park. The race also goes through the Town Centre.

The race was started by new Inverclyde Provost Drew Mackenzie.

Fastest male was Neil Lafferty in 34 minutes and 8 seconds (new course record) who was presented the Jim MacLeod trophy by Christopher Curley, one of the Port Glasgow 10k Organisers.

Fastest female was Nynke Mulholland in 35 minutes 51 seconds (new course record) who was presented the Riverside Inverclyde trophy by Gavin McDonagh, the Chair of Riverside Inverclyde.

Fastest Female under 20 was Maria McCabe, 15,  from Port Glasgow in 48 minutes and 38 seconds.

No male under 20 entered the race.

223 runners in total ran the race on the day but the race was fully booked.

Chris Curley, one of the organisers, says:

“It was great to see so many runners taking part in the race despite the heavy rain on the day.”

“Thanks go to Provost Drew Mackenzie for starting the race.”

“We have had a lot of positive feedback from the runners many of whom have commented on the varied nature of the route. The race also finished beside the new Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow Statue which many runners took advantage of for a wee post-race photo with their medals.”

“A big thank you for all the runners who took part, our number sponsor, Greenock Specsavers, and all the volunteers on the day, without whom it would not be possible for the race to take place.”

“We look forward running the race next year and hope to take advantage of the new road layout at Mirren Shore to improve the route even more.”
