Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping is located in the Town of Liberty, Maine. We are inland 30 minutes from Camden & Rockport, Maine.
We are:
about a 40 minute drive from the coastal communities of Camden, Rockport and Belfast.
about 40 minutes from Unity and the Common Ground Fair in late September.
2 hours northeast of Portland (Maine)
2 hours southwest of Acadia National Park
Note: the above times are approximate and depend on traffic and how well you pay attention to the speed limit.
Our area.
Within a 20 minute drive:
There are no less than 20 different lakes/ponds. These are great for kayaking and fishing.
There is some great hiking.
There are some cool community stores. (We rely on these for quick take-out food, beer/wine, groceries.)
There are 4 different microbreweries, a few wineries and a distillery.
There are some good places to eat!
Within a 40 minute drive:
Camden: scenic, coastal town, restaurants, waterfront, harbor & marina, easy to walk around
Rockland: more gritty than Camden, working waterfront, restaurants, harbor & marina, easy to walk around, Rockland Breakwater & Lighthouse, major grocery shopping here (Shaw's, Hannaford), Home Depot
Thomaston: small town center, town green, easy to walk, major grocery shopping area (Walmart), Lowes.
Rockport: small village, harbor, quick walk
Lincolnville: Lincolnville beach, ferry to Islesboro, small village, Lincolnville General Store
Belfast: more artsy, easy to walk, harbor, working waterfront
Within an hour's drive:
Augusta: Capitol of Maine, Maine State Museum (closed for renovations), major shopping areas.
