Our next talk at Carleton Grange on Friday 19th December 2025 at 7:15pm will be given by renowned community archaeologist Dr. Jon Kenny, about a project he has conducted with Howdenshire Archaeological Society at Hook near Goole. Come along and learn what both desktop research and archaeological fieldwork have revealed about the medieval moated manor site there. The Sotheron family of Darrington Hall had connections with Hook and may have been involved with repairing or re-locating the manor house in the 1700's. Jon will likely tell us more...
Jon's talk on 19th December will be followed by the Society's annual festive fuddle/buffet. Last year's event went very well, thanks to all who brought along a great range of snacks and nibbles. We hope that this year will be just as good, and any party food contributions, savoury or sweet, that members and guests can bring will be most welcome. Hot drinks will be available and the bar will be open as usual. We look forward to seeing you there!
Season's Greetings to everyone and best wishes from the PontArc Committee for a wonderful Christmas!
