At Sparr, we believe that your practice sessions should be private. This Privacy Policy describes how Sparr ("we," "us," or "our") handles data within our mobile application.
Local-First Data Philosophy
Sparr is built with a "local-first" architecture. This means that your conversations, simulation history, achievements, and performance analysis are stored directly on your device and not on our servers. We do not have access to your private practice sessions.
Information We Process

Chat Simulations: When you interact with the AI characters, the text you enter and the scenario context are processed to provide real-time responses and behavioral feedback.

Performance Metrics: The app generates analysis (such as confidence, assertiveness, and clarity scores) based on your interactions. This data remains on your device.

API Keys: If you choose to use your own AI provider keys (OpenAI, OpenRouter, or NVIDIA), these are stored securely on your device using hardware-backed encryption where available.
Third-Party AI Services
To provide the simulation experience, Sparr communicates with third-party AI providers that you configure or that are built into the app.

Providers: We currently support integrations with OpenAI, OpenRouter, and NVIDIA.

Data Shared: Only the minimum data required to facilitate the chat (the conversation transcript and scenario instructions) is sent to these providers.

Data Security

Encryption: Sensitive data like API keys are protected using the Android Security Library's EncryptedSharedPreferences.

On-Device Security: Since your data is stored locally, its security depends on the security of your mobile device. We recommend using standard device locks (PIN, Biometrics).
Data Retention and Deletion

User Control: You have full control over your data. You can delete individual sessions or clear all app data at any time through the app or your device settings.

Permanence: Because we do not store your data on our servers, once you delete a session or uninstall the app, that data is permanently gone and cannot be recovered by us.

Internet Access: Required to communicate with the AI providers to generate responses and analysis.
Children’s Privacy
Sparr is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, providing a notice within the app.
