This Confidentiality and Privacy Policy describes how I (the "developer") collect, use, and protect the information you provide when using the Hosho mobile application (the "App").
I am committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your data. By using the Hosho app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information I Collect
The Hosho app is designed to function entirely on your device. I do not collect any personal information automatically. The only information collected is what you voluntarily provide to use the App's features. This includes:

Product Information: Details you enter about your products, such as the product name, purchase date, price, and warranty duration.

Receipt Images: Photographs of receipts that you choose to upload and associate with a product entry.
•
Application Settings: Preferences you configure within the App, such as the number of days for warranty expiration alerts and notification settings.
All of this information is stored locally and exclusively on your device within the App's secure internal storage.
How Your Information Is Used
The information you provide is used solely to deliver the App's features and functionality. Specifically, your data is used to:

Organize and display your product and warranty information for you.
•
Calculate warranty expiration dates based on the purchase date and warranty duration you provide.
•
Trigger local notifications on your device to alert you about upcoming warranty expirations, according to your configured settings.
•
Allow you to view the receipt images you have saved.
Data Storage and Security
Your data privacy is the top priority.

Local-Only Storage: All information you enter into Hosho, including product details and receipt images, is stored securely on your device's local database. This data is never transmitted to, or stored on, any external servers. It remains in your control, on your device.

No Cloud Syncing: The App does not automatically sync, back up, or transfer your data to any cloud service.
•
Security Measures: The App relies on the underlying security of the Android operating system to protect its local data from unauthorized access.
Because all data resides on your device, you are responsible for its physical and digital security. I recommend using a secure screen lock (PIN, pattern, or biometric) on your device to protect all your personal information. If you lose your device or uninstall the App, the data will be permanently lost unless you have made a manual backup yourself.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
I do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with any third parties. Since your data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to me or anyone else, there is no opportunity for it to be disclosed.
The only exception would be if you voluntarily choose to export or share data from the App yourself using your operating system's built-in sharing functionalities.
Permissions
The Hosho app may request the following permissions to function correctly:

Notifications: Required to send you alerts for expiring warranties.
•
Camera/Storage Access: Required to allow you to capture or upload receipt images from your device's gallery.
These permissions are used solely for the purposes described and do not grant the App access to your data beyond these specific functions.
Children's Privacy
The Hosho app is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children. As the App operates offline, no data is collected or reviewed by the developer.
Changes to This Confidentiality Policy
I may update this Confidentiality and Privacy Policy from time to time. You will be notified of any changes by the posting of the new policy within the App. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this policy are effective when they are posted.
