For more than three decades, Black and Latinx young people, parents, educators, and communities have organized to dismantle the school-to-prison-and-deportation pipeline. As a core feature of that fight, Black young people have relentlessly called to remove police from schools and invest in their education. Their experiences have made clear that police do not keep them safe.
The ongoing national uprising following the police murder of George Floyd, and many other Black people before him, have brought even more people into the fight for #PoliceFreeSchools. And, we’re seeing historic momentum towards winning - Minneapolis ended their contract with MPD, Portland’s Superintendent announced that the district would end police presence in schools, and Milwaukee Public Schools Board of Directors has passed a resolution that ends the district's contracts with the Milwaukee Police Department. There are more districts introducing similar measures every day! Youth organizing has made that possible.
Donate now to ensure young people have the resources to keep winning #PoliceFreeSchools.
