POLEMO is a research group on political, legal, and moral philosophy associated with CEU's Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations. Our research interests are as diverse as our members and range from topics like democracy and legitimacy to equality and justice.
We offer peer review to our members and guests during our regular Seminars and hold an annual conference called the POLEMO Symposium. We also organize lectures, workshops and informal events to bring together likeminded scholars within our community and beyond.
Believing in the value of debate and discussion to foster cutting-edge scholarship, we are a joint endeavour between the departments of political science and philosophy. We keep in mind Heraclitus’ words, which gave us our name:
“For we must know that strife (πόλεμος) is common to all, and strife is justice and that all things come into being through strife necessarily...”
To receive updates about our events, you can join our group on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, and check our event page on the CEU website.
