Competitive Training

EV [Effort Values]

To check the EV of your Pokémon, you can look at the small blue EXP bar in the summary screen.

A full bar means 252 EV on the specific status value.

Furthermore, there are several ways to purposefully change your Pokémon's EV.

Power Items

In order to be able to perform a particularly effective EV training, the effect of the power items has been increased.
If you defeat a Pokémon, you now get a bonus of +10 to the respective status value.
Power items can be purchased at the Granitedeep Mall.

EV reducing berrys

It is possible to lower the accumulated EV points on unpleasant status values via so-called EV reducing berries.

These berries can be found on your journey through Terre.

Additionally, these berries can be obtained randomly daily at the Slateburg City market.

EV deleter

The EV Deleter can reset all of your Pokémon's EV, allowing you to start your specific training from scratch.

This service can be used on Route 14 on the Isle of Repentance as soon as you can dissolve whirlpools thanks to the Silph Whirl.

EV Trainer

In Terre there are three special EV trainers where status values can be specifically trained.

The first trainer is located in Titania City early in the game. He appears next to the Pokémon Mart as soon as you register for the Pokémon League.

The second trainer is located next to the Pokémon Mart of Coral Town.

The third trainer is located next to the Pokémon Mart of Iron Rock City.

IV [Individual Values]

To check the IV of your Pokémon, you can look at the letter in the summary screen.

The letter represents a certain IV value band.

  • F = [0]

  • D = [1 - 7]

  • C = [8- 15]

  • B = [16- 22]

  • A = [23 - 31]

  • S = [31]

Status Boost Items

The IV values can be raised by using status boost items.
Such an item increases the IV +3.

These boost items can be made in Copper Canyon by the hermit master craftman.

To reach him, all you need is the Climbing Pick from Slateburg City.

Pokédex Level

With each new entry in your Pokédex, it will gain a little EXP.
When the EXP bar is full, your Pokédex goes up one level.

For each level reached, all wild encounters receive a bonus on all IVs equal to the Pokédex level.

So if you catch a lot of Pokémon, the newly caught ones will become significantly stronger.

Ability

Ability Capsule

An Ability Capsule allows the player to subsequently change a Pokémon's ability at will.

The capsule can be crafted in Copper Canyon by the hermit master craftman.

To reach him, all you need is the Climbing Pick from Slateburg City.

Natures

Nature Mints

In the Combat Pillar, Nature Mints can be purchased in exchange for BP.

A Mint allows you to change the nature of a Pokémon.
