Baltimore Career Coach Initiative
Baltimore Career Coach Initiative
Our goals are to:
help each student choose one or more post-CCR pathway(s)
help students identify career options and develop career competencies
leverage a range of regional partnerships and strategies and that align with local resources and workforce demand
These are our core values. They are a fundamental part of who we are, and in the decisions we make. We must adhere to them, even – especially – when doing so carries costs for the organization. We will strive to ensure that every activity we undertake, every employee we hire, and every policy we enact reflects these core values.
Student trust and empowerment
Building strong and positive relationships
Humanizing the work
Prioritizing listening, learning and feedback
Problem solving mindset
How Will We Succeed?
We have the following strategic anchors that will differentiate us from everyone else:
Rocket scientists of career readiness, with skills, knowledge, programs, and resources
Showing up for ALL students and families, based on where they are/what they need (differentiating supports to distinct groups of students and ensuring students do not fall through the gaps of a school’s CCR site team)
Change will be coming from the ground-up, with youth, families, communities as system drivers, not only receivers
Utilizing the village (collaboration) to keep coaches supported and students engaged
Continuous learning through training, practice, on-the-job practice and feedback, and coaching
A strong data system to inform and anchor our work beyond anecdotes, feelings, biases
Short-term by the end of SY23-24: Proof points and stories of student impact from pilot, anchored on a focused set of supports for students.
Long-term by the end of SY25-26: Career coach initiative endures and has created an integrated, aligned, and coherent program of support in Baltimore City for each student to be college and career ready.
