1. About Pocket Joey

Pocket Joey helps families build healthy saving habits together. Parents and children use the app jointly. No advertising is shown, and we never sell or share personal information.

Pocket Joey offers two modes:

• Anonymous mode: no login required, one child only

• Registered parent account: login with email and password, add multiple children

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Anonymous Users

When using the app without creating an account, we collect and store:

• Child’s name

• Child’s date of birth

• One savings goal

This data is stored securely in our backend so the app works properly.
We do not collect email, payment information, precise location, or advertising identifiers.

2.2 Registered Users

When a parent creates an account, we collect:

• Parent email address

• Parent password (encrypted)

• Child names

• Child dates of birth

• Any savings goals created

A registered parent can add multiple children.
We collect no additional data categories.

2.3 Technical & Usage Data

To help improve the app, we collect limited usage information such as:

• Device type

• App version

• Screens and features used

Coarse Location (City/Country)

Our analytics provider, Mixpanel, automatically receives coarse location (e.g., city or country) based on IP address.
We do not collect or use precise location.

Importantly:

• Child names and dates of birth are never sent to Mixpanel

• No advertising IDs or tracking profiles are used

• No data is used for advertising or cross-app tracking

3. How We Use the Information

We use your data only for:

• Operating core app features

• Managing parent and child profiles

• Tracking savings progress

• Improving app performance and fixing bugs (through anonymous analytics)

We do not sell data, serve ads, or use behavioural profiling.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Parents’ Data

We process parent data under:

• Consent (when signing up)

• Contract (providing the service)

Children’s Data

Under COPPA, GDPR-K and Australian Privacy Law:

• All child information is entered only by a parent

• We collect the minimum required for app functionality

• We do not collect data directly from children

5. Storage & Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted communication (HTTPS)

• Secure password hashing

• Access controls

• Monitored infrastructure

Child data is never shared outside the app’s core operations.

6. Data Retention

We keep data only for as long as needed:

• Anonymous accounts: kept until the parent requests deletion

• Registered accounts: kept until the parent requests account deletion

• Backups may be retained briefly for reliability and security

7. Your Rights as a Parent

Parents have full control over their data and their children’s data.

You may request:

• Access to all data

• Corrections to child information

• Deletion of a child profile

• Deletion of your parent account

• Deletion of all associated data

All deletion requests are handled via email for safety and verification.

Deletion requests are processed within 30 days of a verified request.
We may retain minimal information if required to comply with legal obligations.

8. Children’s Privacy

Pocket Joey follows COPPA (USA), GDPR-K (EU/UK), and the Australian Privacy Act.

We ensure:

• No direct data collection from children

• All children’s data is provided by the parent

• No child-targeted advertising

• No behavioural tracking

Analytics

Mixpanel receives only anonymous usage information and coarse location.
Child identifiers (names, DOBs) are never sent to analytics.

9. Google Play Families Policy Compliance

Pocket Joey complies fully with Google Play’s Families requirements:

• No ads in the app

• No advertising SDKs

• Only analytics allowed for children’s apps are used

• No sharing of children’s data

• Minimal data collection

• Clear parental control and deletion options provided
