Graduate Students
Hanyoung Kim is a graduate student at AFREL and ExTENsys lab (main supervisor: Distinguished Prof. Kyung Chun Kim) in PNU. He is now working on the RLRC (EPIC in PNU) project related to MILD co-combustion of methane/hydrogen/ammonia. His research interests include visualization of MILD combustion fueled by ammonia.
Yi Ui Hyung is a part-time graduate student at AFREL, PNU. He joined our lab in Sep. 2024 and started his Ph.D. course. He is now working in Busan Machniery Research Center at Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials as a senior engineer as well. His research interests include ammonia-fueled maritime engine and its emission characteristics.
Hobin Jeon is a graduate student at AFREL, PNU. He joined our lab in July 2025. His research interests include NH3 combustion with cracking ammonia (including N2, H2, and active species) on swirl burner experiments and its simulation with chemical kinetics.
Doyeon Kim is a graduate student at AFREL, PNU. He was also a member of EWX-CORPS (실전문제연구단) 2024 and joined our lab in Jan. 2025 firstly as an undergraduate student. His research interests include hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine for automotive, especially for the post injection of hydrogen fuel to reduce NOx emissions by using 0D modeling and simulation.
Jaeho Wi is a graduate student at AFREl, PNU. He received his master's degree from Kumoh National Institute of Technology in Feb, 2026. His research interests include carbon capture and usage for e-fuel production and design for high compression ratio SI engine.
Undergraduate Students
Tae Young Kil is an undergraduate lab intern at AFREL, PNU. He joined our lab in Feb. 2025, and started his lab intern program. His research interests include ammonia-fueled SOFC system modeling and plasma-catalysis experiments for ammonia cracking to support ammonia-only burner experiments.
Hye Seong Yun is an undergraduate lab intern at AFREL, PNU. He joined our lab in Feb. 2025, and started his lab intern program. His research interests include ammonia-fueled SOFC system modeling and plasma-catalysis experiments for ammonia cracking to support ammonia-only burner experiments.
Seo Hyeong Yang is an undergraduate lab intern at AFREL, PNU. He joined our lab in March 2025, and started his lab intern program. His research interests include ammonia-fueled SOFC system modeling and plasma-catalysis modeling for ammonia cracking.
Jiwon Kim is an undergraduate lab intern at AFREL, PNU. She joined our lab in September 2025, and started her lab intern program. Her research interests include ammonia-fueled engine simulation with 3D CFD modeling run by CONVERGE.
Nayeon Kim is an undergraduate lab intern at AFREL, PNU. She joined our lab in January 2026, and started her lab intern program. Her research interests include the design of e-gasoline for next-generation SI engines with high compression ratios using 0D ignition delay simulations.
