BEYOND BORDERS DOG RESCUE
BEYOND BORDERS DOG RESCUE
About Us
Rescue Name: Beyond Borders Dog Rescue
Evelyne Gerault: Lead Rescuer - Location: Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico
Years in Rescue: 25+ years
Focus: Rescue, rehabilitation, and care of abandoned and vulnerable dogs
Please note Beyond Border Dog Rescue is Evelyne's rescue name in Mexico (it is not a registered non profit BC Society). She did previously operate the rescue under the registered non profit society called Pawsitively Loved Rescue Society (PLRS). Due to Directors leaving for personal reasons, not related to the rescue, and difficulty replacing them a decision was made to dissolve the Society and Evelyne to continue her rescue under Beyond Borders Dog Rescue which aligns with her existing alumini community by Natalie Cunliffe.
About Evelyne:
Evelyne Gerault is our dedicated rescuer based in the town of Orizaba, about two hours outside of Veracruz and approximately four hours from Mexico City International Airport. She shares her home with her daughter, Samia, and together they care for many of the dogs we rescue.
Most of the dogs live directly in Evelyne’s home, where they receive daily care, stability, and affection. When space becomes limited, a small number of dogs are temporarily placed in boarding facilities, which are funded through the generosity of our monthly donors.
With more than 25 years in animal rescue, Evelyne brings an extraordinary level of experience, compassion, and commitment to every animal she helps. She personally escorts each dog to veterinary appointments, grooming visits, and any other care they require. Her days are filled with the constant routine of transporting dogs, managing their needs, and ensuring every animal receives the attention and treatment they deserve.
For Evelyne, rescue is not simply work—it is a lifelong mission. Every dog that comes through her door is treated with patience, kindness, and unwavering dedication.
To see Evelyne’s work in action and witness the care she gives to every animal, we invite you to visit our Facebook page and watch the videos of her daily rescue efforts.
Meet Graciela and Georgina (Gina) Guerrero
Graciela and Georgina (Gina) Guerrero are two of our extraordinary volunteers and trusted rescuers in Mexico City. As Aeromexico flight attendants, they serve as dedicated “flight angels,” helping transport our rescue dogs safely from Mexico City to Vancouver.
The sisters receive our crates in Mexico City and often complete an incredible turnaround within 24 hours—escorting 11 dogs on each trip. After landing in Vancouver, they stay overnight and the following morning they return back to the airport with bundles of empty crates so they can bring them back to Mexico City for the next rescue.
Their commitment, energy, and compassion make this life-saving work possible. Graciela and Gina work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that dogs in need have the chance to travel safely to their new lives. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and proud to have them as part of our rescue family.

Application for Adoption
FAQ's
FEES FOR ADOPTION AND FOSTER TO ADOPT:
This application form is for dogs posted on Beyond Borders Dog Rescue. Please note Beyond Border Dog Rescue is Evelyne Gerault's rescue name in Mexico (it is not a registered non profit BC Society).
Costs to adopt a dog from Beyond Borders Dog Rescue in Orizaba range from is $1050 to YVR and $1150 to Vancouver Island. This includes CBSA Inspection, taxes and porter. Additional costs if flown elsewhere. Toytal costs are explained on the application form.
These costs are based on: Flight fee to YVR, Adoption fee, which helps pay for the sterilization, vaccines, blood panel to test for heart worm, water born diseases and the like, deworming and other vetting that our rescues need before they start their healing journey. If our dogs have heart worm it is at least a 3-month healing and recovery process, we do not recover the expenses on these poor pups, so we try to spread out costs evenly between our adopters to keep costs down for all dogs. A lot of dogs come in with severe mange, this is a very long and tedious healing process. This is done for love, not money.
Higher price results from larger dog (weight fees) and additional medical costs are sometimes factored, but rarely and cost to ship to your nearest airport. Fees are due upon acceptance of adoption. This fee is non-refundable. If you decide to return your dog to PLRS we will help you re-home your dog. We will post on our page, screen applicants, arrange transport if required and answer questions for potential adopters. There will be no refund
CBSA (Canadian Customs and Border Services Agency) charges inspection fee of our vet paperwork that is sent with each dog. They also charge tax on the 'adoption' fee, which we list to be in line with other Mexican rescues in our area. We do not vary from this on our paperwork so that we do not cause issues and delays at Customs for our flight angels, adopters, fosters and our greeter, Kira Whitlock
A total of $1050 is required for the Foster 2 Adopt program. Of this $525 is due up front. and of this amount $425 is refundable . $100 is non refundable to help cover relaocation, administrative, and foster-related costs incurred by the rescue.
If adopted the remaining $525 is due within 7 days of receiving your dog. In some circumstances this may be extended to 10 days with prior approval. PLEASE READ THE ADOPTION FORM entirely as all fees are explained there.
