Selamat sore

Banjarmasin, Indonesia

I arrived in Banjarmasin around 4.30 pm. So I have to say “Selamat sore” because it means “Good afternoon”.

It was sprinkling today. While I was walking in the airport, I saw the Indonesian friends are waiting for me. I can remember them because we’ve talked in the line group before I came here.

Rina and Nia

The first thing I saw when I looked at them was their smile. Then they said “Ploy”. Yes, that’s my name. At that time, I thought that it’s the first warm welcome I got. Rina and Nia were the buddies who picked me up from the airport. They accompanied me to buy some snacks and a sim card before went to the dormitory.

Women's dormitory of UNLAM

I arrived at the dormitory around 6 pm. and saw Tan, my roommate. She arrived yesterday (August 5th, 2017). I’d like to say thank you to UNLAM for provide me a convenient room.

Sate

Nasi sop

Sate and Nasi sop is the first meal of me in Banjarmasin. Indonesian friends accompanied me and my friends (other exchange students) to the local restaurant and they ordered Sate and Nasi sop for us. The taste of Sate is similar to Sate in Thailand and about Nasi sop, it is like a porridge. It was the time for meeting other exchange students, 8 Thais and 2 Filipinos, and Indonesian friends. We all tried to remember the name of each other.
