Marikit is PLMar Library’s Virtual Librarian. Though the library is physically closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, it will not be a hindrance to reach out to the academic community. Marikit will play a big role in assisting library-related queries sent by the faculty and students through Facebook and E-mail.
Marikit is a 40-feet statue along the riverside area. “Marikit-Na” depicts a beautiful woman a long time ago, who is fond of looking at her reflection in the river and is said to have accidentally drowned, and from whom the city supposedly got its name. Folk stories describe her as a beautiful lady (“Marikit” means pretty) with long hair who was always seen near the chapel of Jesus de la Peña and the river.
Behind Marikit are librarians and library staff. Researchers may send Marikit their queries through Facebook and E-mail. This will be facilitated by the staff as soon as possible. References will be sent in an electronic format following the Copyright Law.
