Parent Support Groups
One of the most meaningful sources of support and information comes from other parents who experienced parenting a child with a special need. Parents who are informed, connected and supported by other parents who have "been there," are better prepared to meet challenges that arise.
Understood is the leading nonprofit empowering the 70 million people with learning and thinking differences in the United States.
People with learning and thinking differences are two to three times more likely to have mental health challenges like anxiety or depression. These challenges, plus the stigma surrounding them, can leave people feeling isolated or misunderstood.
With Understood, no one ever has to feel alone. Our expert-designed resources are free and easy to access, so everyone can get the support they deserve.
Co-sponsored by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs' Special Needs Committee, we are a group of parents and educations coming together once a month to offer support, share ideas, resources, and empower each other as we experience the successes and challenges of raising a child with dyslexia. This group is intended to be a safe place where parents can freely share what we are going through with others who understand or may have overcome a similar challenge and can offer insight or experience.
The Livermore Special Needs Parent Group is made up of parents and guardians in the Tri-Valley area whose children have various special needs. It was established by parents, for parents.
Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings, which provide opportunities to:
• Hear from Speakers
• Receive parent training
• Learn about resources in the community
• Network with other parents/guardians
CHADD of California is a state-level extension of the national nonprofit, CHADD (Children & Adults with ADHD). Our chapter is a statewide community where people impacted by ADHD come together to learn, connect, and grow through evidence-based education and peer support — because thriving with ADHD begins with finding your people and knowing you’re not alone.
