This project received funding through Collaboration Staffordshire University and was conducted by Dr Mariëlle Leijten, Prof Luuk Van Waes, and Prof David Galbraith. The researchers investigated how professional writers manage the balance between monitoring previous text and generating further text.
Writing from Multiple Digital Sources in a Professional Context (2010-2013)
This project, funded by the Flanders Research Foundation, was conducted by Dr Mariëlle Leijten under the supervision of Prof Luuk Van Waes and Prof Paul Matthyssens. Its aim was to describe the full dynamic of professional writing of business texts, and particularly the use of multiple digital sources.
This Action (ISCH COST Action IS1401) brought together reading and writing research communities across Europe so they could integrate their findings and align their agendas with the ultimate goal of promoting citizens’ interdependence, participation, and innovation through the enhancement of literacy in the digital era. The general coordinator of the Action was Prof Rui Alvez. The Belgian coordinator was Prof Luuk Van Waes.
The INTERACT project, coordinated by Prof Sharon O'Brien, was an H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange Network aimed at researching plain language and translation in crisis scenarios. It brought together a unique combination of actors from social science, humanities, technology developers and humanitarian responders to collaborate and to educate each other.
Developed by Prof Luuk Van Waes and his research team, Inputlog is a keystroke logging programme that allows for the observation of writing process dynamics and the collection of fine grained data. It also provides a wide range of analyses, opening new perspectives to a better understanding of the (cognitive) complexity of writing.
Calliope is a multilingual (Dutch, French, and English) online writing centre with a focus on academic, business, and technical communication. Through this platform, students can improve their professional writing skills. The platform was developed by Dr Liesbeth Opdenacker and Prof Luuk Van Waes.
