Methodology
Classes will consist of a combination of lecture, discussion inquiry-based activities, and observation laboratories
Attendance
Students must attend all sessions; excused absences will be allowed for no more than 2 sessions. Additional missed classes will result in a 1/3 letter grade reduction per absence.
Grading
Each session will begin with a quiz on material covered the prior meeting session (including any handouts and textbook reading assignments). There will be no make-up quizzes for unexcused absences; all make-up quizzes must be taken before the next session.
Questions and/or laboratory write-ups will be assigned throughout the term; these should be typed. All write-ups must be handed in on time.
A laboratory notebook will be kept with procedures and label diagrams for all viewed materials. This lab notebook should be bound (I will not accept loose pages)
How to study for quizzes and tests
Focus on concepts that include larger understandings of the session's topics.
Note structures and processes that are fundmental to plants, and may be found across the plant kingdom
Remember important definitions that pervade the session's topics.
Look at "Questions for Thought" in each groups' section, and conceptualize answers to these questions.
