The following rules have been developed to ensure safe and smooth operation of the program.
We feel that participation in this program is a privilege and that asking finalists to respect these rules and regulations is paramount to the success of this program. Both parents and students must understand that and agree to the rules. In developing these rules, we have taken into consideration the age group and the range of personalities involved, our supervisory capabilities, and the overall purpose of the program.
Participants must be prepared to make an honorable commitment for the days of the 3M Young Scientist Challenge. No student will be allowed to participate who does not agree to abide by these rules as is implied upon signing the program contract. Violation of any of the following will result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, suspension from program activities or expulsion from the program including forfeiture of finalist prizes and awards.
1. Participation and Attendance
Attendance at regularly scheduled activities is mandatory. Students may be excused from required activities only by permission from Program Managers.
2. Illegal substances and other prescribed items
No finalist may use, possess, or deliver alcoholic beverages, firearms or other weapons, illegal drugs and/or other illegal substances. Violation of this rule will result in expulsion from the program.
3. Disorderly conduct
No finalist shall engage in disorderly and/or disruptive conduct. Such conduct or any action that is committed with disregard of possible harm or injury to an individual, group or property will be grounds for expulsion.
4. Curfew
It is strongly suggested that finalists be mindful of early mornings and try to be in bed at a decent hour. We ask that parents urge their finalist to get as much rest as possible as the activities can be strenuous.
