A creature from the planet Rixen, Rixgems
are warm-blooded bipeds with a gem sensor imbedded into
the back of their head.
They use this sensor to
communitcate with other Rixgems,
as well as for navigation and
gathering info on their
surroundings (smell and sound)
Their gem horn serves no real
purpose in modern times, but in
their evolutionary past it served as
a way to fight for dominance.
Nowadays, rixgems grow out their
horns as a biological accesory.
Some even carve them into
pretty shapes.
It is rare to see a rixgem with a
larger more prehistoric horn
due to the limit genetics
have put on it. It is also due
to a genetic factor that
some Rixgems are unable to grow
a horn at all.
Gem Sensors can be shaped or look like a cut gem. Iris can have pupils or can be the pupil, and
teeth can be any type.
Rixgems are like us when it comes to love, with a few extra affectionate actions.
Putting their heads together and vibrating their gem is showing how much they trust their partner(s), whether
platonic or romantic. (Kinda like a purr)
The vibration sounds can sound like a Glass Harp, Flute, Harmonica, or a Hydraulophone depending on the rixgem's own voice. It is probably due to the muscles near the base of the gem are very similar to vocal cords.
Another sign of affection is to rub foreheads/horns gently, which two horns rubbing makes a violin note sound.
And yes, they can also purr normally like a cat and kiss.
They reproduce the way mammals do, carrying
at max 4 Rixkits (or young) at a time.
Their pregnancies usually last for 7 months, with 9 being the maximum before complications arise. During this time, the pregnant rixgem may experience cravings, overreactive sensor, weakened immune system, and nausea.
They carry the rixkit(s) for 7 months. Once born the newborn kit is unable to see for the first 3 months of their life. during this time rixkits identify those around them through sound and smell.
At 6 years old, they can start growing in their gem horn, and any other horns. It is reccomended to file down any sharp tips to prevent accidental injury.
