Meranda Gallupe-Paton is completing her MA at Carleton University in Public History with a specialization in Digital Humanities. Her research focuses on place-based memories of Mechanicsville, a once working-class neighbourhood that is in the throes of gentrification. She is producing Memories of Mechanicsville, an immersive podcast that acts as an audio time capsule made up of snapshots from life in the neighbourhood. This public history explores personal connections to place through autoethnography, oral history, and in the context of gentrification.
