Below is another special accessory, a heavy duty milling/drilling spindle, this is fitted for Morse 1 tapered arbors and mandrels together with a drawbar. Dating it is rather difficult although Morse tapers were invented in 1863, 26 years before Pittler began production.
The swivelling pulley wheels when connected to the overhead drive permit the device to operate in various directions and angles including both horizontally or vertically for milling and drilling.
A close up showing the mandrel fitted with a gear cutter
Showing the belt tensioner from the overhead drive, this both positions & tensions the belt directly over the lathe
This accessory bolts onto either the standard Pittler cross-slide or the compound one
Showing how the spindle can be turned to different angles for drilling/milling etc.
