Using studies of people and research into folklore, I've made a few zines and books to communicate this to a wider audience.
A zine illustrating memories with the colours they ought to be rather than were.
A pocket bestiary dedicated to Lithuanian folk beasts.
Using several canvas illustrations, inspired by the Lithuanian legend 'Eglė the Queen of Serpents', I produced a book complete with both Lithuanian and English translations. Pictured are selected pages from the final publication.
Eglė meets the Serpent King, Žilvinas
She is taken to the sea as his bride
Eglė and her four children; Ažuolas, Uosis, Beržas, and Drebulė
Žilvinas allows her to return after completing three trials
Drebulė is forced by Eglė's brothers to reveal Žilvinas' name
The bloody seafoam reveals Žilvinas was killed
Eglė grieves
Out of her sorrow, she turns herself into a fir - and her children into trees.
