The course in ‘Innovation Management’ (IM) is intended to improve the competence of both bachelor's and master's degree students in the field of innovation. The course is based on discussing the best practices, tools, the series of standards ISO 56000, and ultimately – an overview of trends in the development and implementation of innovation management within organizations, companies, and enterprises.
The course ‘Innovation Management’ (IM) is intended to enhance the awareness of the students is respect to the Innovation Body of Knowledge (BoK), based on years of rich experience at the ISPIM (the International Society for Professional Innovation Management), international standards and renowned excellence models.
This particular course reflects the latest developments in the field of innovation management and more specifically- the most recent editions of the International Standards of the ISO 56000 series, and intellectual property rights (IPR) management. In addition, current and emerging trends based on annual reports will be discussed with the students.
The course is based on the practical and teaching experience of the professors. The team of lecturers has a proven record both in innovation management and in teaching at the Prishtina International Summer University.
The course will be carried out using multimedia presentations of the lectures and the exercises. Specific case studies and teamwork will be used in the exercises that follow the lectures. If required, the course can be delivered both face-to-face and online with a companion website of the course.
All lectures will be facilitated and enhanced by videos, case studies, and multimedia presentations. The course will be delivered in a realistic and practical manner by using team assignments and workshops on ideation, analytical thinking, and management of intellectual property.
It is expected that the course in "Innovation Management" (IM) will improve the students’ competence in relation to knowledge and skills such as:
Creativity tools and techniques.
Innovation management principles.
Implementation of innovation management in organizations.
Awareness of ISO standards for innovation management, and their effect on organizations.
Introduction. Evolution of innovation management. General terms related to innovations. Innovation management principles. The core innovation processes- identify opportunities, create and validate concepts, and develop and deploy solutions. Development of innovation management systems. Guidance for the application of various aspects of innovation management within organizations- strategic thinking and strategic intelligence, innovation partnership, and innovation management assessment. Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)- patents, utility models, trademarks, designs, etc.
The students are expected to obtain specific knowledge and a better understanding of innovation management and its impact on the sustained success of any organization.
The students should be able to:
Use specific creativity tools;
Assess the potential of innovative solutions;
Recognize and take into consideration requirements and guidelines for the application of innovation management in a real organization;
Be aware of the types of intellectual property rights and their protection;
Interact and communicate effectively with various interested parties involved in the innovation process.
The course will be held in the Faculty of Philology, specifically in Class 41, 2nd floor.
The classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, 3rd July 2023, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and will end on 14th July 2023.
