The Pink Slip Project
As future teachers in NYCDOE, we don't want every part of school to go back to "normal" in September. On average, a student is suspended every minute of the school day, every day of the school year in New York State. Schools nationwide suspend Black students at a far greater rate than White students, but Black students are not more likely to be disruptive in school. This stolen time affects students' academics, emotional and physical health. (According to the New York Equity Coalition)
