As an open-baffle, single driver, full-range, crossoverless design, the Pine 15 is very distinct in comparison to traditional enclosed speakers; these characteristics provide a natural sonic profile that brings the character of the amplifier to the forefront. The direct connection from amplifier output stage to speaker voice coil (with no filtering components in between) provides an immediacy and dynamic response that is extremely realistic and very revealing.

A present and airy quality surrounds the soundstage of the Pine 15s due to the open-baffle configuration. As the sound radiates toward the listener from the front of the speaker, the rearward movement of the speaker is allowed to move freely into the listening space (behind first, reflected from the rear wall surface, and sent back to the listener's ears). This quality is one that makes the Pine 15 able to reproduce music in a way that is like an instrument and provides a soundstage that is far larger than traditional speaker designs.

These speakers include custom made, floor decoupling bases for the highest level of sonic performance.
