Who Are We?
The Pilot Butte Arts Class Committee is made up of a small group of volunteers. We accept Instructor Application forms and then discuss the various applications, with an eye to offering varied classes, workshops and mediums to our community and surrounding areas. We schedule classes throughout spring, fall, winter and take the summer off from programming. We currently offer art classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings after 630pm and some Sundays in our shared use Community Hall. We are always looking for new classes to offer our community but also often receive more applications than we can accommodate in each session. As such we choose, as a committee, whether to offer, or decline, a class based on discussion of all factors. These decisions are based on what we have offered previously, how specific mediums have been received by the community we serve as well as cost and time restrictions given our shared use facility.
As a volunteer committee we are here to help you succeed but also reserve the right to decline any application at our discretion.
We provide respectful interactions with all our instructors and expect respectful communication with our volunteers in return.
How Does Teaching Work with Pilot Butte Arts?
Our Pilot Butte Arts Class Committee is here to work with you to bring your creative class to our community!
What we do:
We cover hall bookings and coordination. We set up an online registration form and update our website and social media to advertise the classes we offer. We communicate with people during the pre-class period and send reminder emails. You get copies of each electronic registration via email in real time. One week prior to class you also get a complete list of attendees. Did we mention we subsidize each class registration by 10% thanks to a generous grant from Saskatchewan Lotteries! You get paid the full price of your class and we cover the subsidy to attendees.
What you do:
Step 1: complete an Instructor Application. You set the price and class length. Our registration system allows us to ask questions during the registration process, so if you want to offer different options such as colour or size you can do that.
Step 2: Wait for email indicating acceptance of your application and discussion of available dates.
Step 3: Have fun teaching your class then submit your invoice to us! You charge us the full amount per participant, even though they pay 10% less. If you get no shows, you can invoice for those. If you can offer kits to the non-attending participants, that's great, but it is not required or expected.
Instructors are responsible for providing table covers, taking out any large volumes of garbage generated during class and leaving the Hall in the same shape that it was in to start. The maintenance person will lock up the Hall at the end of the evening.
Important Notes
· We have set our maximum class size as 20 to ensure each attendee is able to get attention and any assistance they may need with projects.
· Adult classes are considered 18+ unless stated differently by applicant
· Children classes are 6+ unless stated differently by applicant. A criminal record check with vulnerable sector check must be submitted for all children class instructors.
