Why We Started PIF

Play It Forward began with 3 words Michael Sylvara wrote down in 2015: pay it forward.

At the time, it was a personal goal — a reminder that everything he'd gained as an athlete and person was meant to be shared. Michael had lived the full journey of youth and collegiate sports. He'd felt the thrill of winning and the sting of failure. He'd navigated the pressures of the recruiting process and the quiet lessons that only come from years in athletics. He didn't want that experience to end with him. He wanted to give it back.

So he asked a simple question: what if a club existed not just to build better players, but to build better people?

That question became Play It Forward Beach Volleyball Club.

Small City. National-Level Results.

Built in Springfield, Missouri — competing with anyone in the nation.

Play It Forward is a faith-rooted, nonprofit beach volleyball club where every young athlete is welcomed, coached, and challenged to reach their full potential — on the sand and in life. Whether your child is brand new to the game or chasing national goals, there's a place for them here.
