Keeping Oakville Livable

The Town of Oakville is responsible for local planning and development approvals, as regulated by provincial policy and the Ontario Building Code. This role puts town Council at the forefront of the housing crisis in Oakville. Oakville needs balance pressures of growth while preserving existing housing stock and mix.

Keeping Oakville Livable:

•  Protect the Character of Existing Neighbourhoods.

• Implement Sustainable Development Standards.

• Provide Mix of Housing Types Throughout the Town such as rentals and senior facilities.

• Increase  Affordable and Attainable Housing (e.g. senior, public, co-op, community housing, etc.).

• Require Growth to Occur in Identified Nodes and Corridors (such as around GO stations or Trafalgar Road)

• Expedite Zoning Changes to Accelerate the Building of Affordable and Attainable Housing .

• Update the "Livable Oakville Plan".
