Increasing Transparency & Accountability

Ensure Staff Report to Council on the Status of Plans and Actions 

Require staff to report to Council at least annually on the progress of action plans, including the status of key goals and, where targets have not been met, the reasons why and the steps being taken to address them. 

Creating a Lobbyist Registry

A transparency tool that allows residents to see who is meeting with their elected officials, the purpose of each meeting, and the issues being discussed, helping ensure greater openness and accountability in local government. 

Re-establish the Internal Audit Function or an Auditor General's Office

The Internal Auditor function has not been in place since 2019.

This function assists Council in its role of representing the public and considering the well-being and interest of the public; as well as, assists in fulfilling Council oversight responsibilities for the system of internal controls and the audit processes.
