Disability Services
At Pierpont, we are committed to supporting all students in achieving academic success. If you had an IEP or 504 Plan in high school—or if you experience any challenges that impact your learning—you may be eligible for accommodations.
Contact the Disability Services Office to discuss your needs. Accommodations are determined on an individual basis and are designed to remove barriers to your education.
Students must register in order to receive accommodations.

To register, the student must have an in-person or online interview with a counselor.
Once registered, students may request academic accommodations.
A person who:
Has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits a major life activity;
Has a record or history of such an impairment; or
Is regarded as having such an impairment.
Disabilities include, but are not limited to: physical, visual, hearing, emotional, cognitive, learning, speech, and language issues. Major life activities include, but are not limited to: walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, test-taking, working, caring for oneself, and performing manual tasks.

According to Section 504 and the ADA, it is the student’s responsibility to identify himself/herself. At Pierpont Community and Technical College, this means that you must seek assistance from Disability Services.

Tutoring
We all need a little extra help sometimes. Pierpont offers free tutoring to all full-time and part-time students. Get the academic support you need to stay on track.
Tutoring schedules vary each semester.
For the noted tutoring subjects, students may visit room 117 at the Advanced Technology Center.

Family & Academic Leadership Award - Recognition for Your Hard Work!
Pierpont proudly celebrates the academic achievements of students in the WV WORKS Program.
Each spring, one student is selected to receive the Family & Academic Leadership Award—an honor recognizing a student who not only excels academically but also shows strong commitment to their family and educational goals.
Who's Eligible?
You must be an active WV WORKS student at Pierpont.
The award goes to the student with the highest GPA from the Fall/Winter and Spring semesters leading up to the award review.
No application required—we’ll automatically review student records.

This award recognizes your resilience, leadership, and dedication. We know how hard you’re working, and we want to celebrate your success.

Early Alert
The Office of Student Success & Completion uses an Early Alert System to help students stay on track. Faculty and students work together to identify academic concerns early and connect with the right support. This proactive approach encourages student persistence and academic achievement.

Urgent needs are prioritized, but please be patient as wait times may vary.
MVA bills your insurance first. Lab work and X-rays may result in out-of-pocket costs.
A provider is on call 24/7 to discuss urgent concerns by phone.
