Online Classes
Some of Pierpont's programs are fully or mostly online.
Other programs give the option to take in-person or online sections of individual courses.
Before committing to an online class, ask yourself these questions:
Am I a self-starter?
Do I have strong time management and organizational skills?
Do I enjoy learning independently?
Am I able to maintain focus in classes?
Do I have difficulty in a specific subject (ex., math, chemistry)?
Am I comfortable asking for help?
Some key advantages of online learning are:
Flexibility
Convenience
Less expensive (no travel!)
Comfy (yes, even pajamas are allowed)
But don’t be fooled—online classes can be just as demanding (or more so!) than in-person classes. They require strong self-discipline, time management, and computer skills.
If you know that:
You need regular interaction with your instructor
You struggle with time management
You have trouble with subjects like math or English
…then online learning might not be the best fit right now — unless you're prepared to use your resources.
Good news:
Pierpont offers tutoring and learning strategies support to help you succeed in online courses.

Common Computer Requirements for Online Classes
Chromebooks and MacBook laptops:
Chromebooks may not be compatible with some of the programs Pierpont courses require.
MacBooks can be difficult to use for courses like Computer Concepts (OFAD), where software compatibility may be an issue.
A Windows-based laptop (HP, Dell, etc.) is typically more reliable for Pierpont coursework.
