To help you with your task, you will need to construct 4 different prototypes of popcorn prisms. For this task you will need the following materials:
4 pieces of white copy paper
tape
ruler
calculator
paper plate (you will use this a little bit later)
"popcorn" (you will use this a little bit later)
Once you've gotten the materials you need, you are ready to begin creating!
What shape should your popcorn container be?
Directions:
You will need to create 4 different prisms to test.
Prism #1 will be a rectangular base prism. You will fold a piece of the white copy paper in half (the wide way), and then fold it in half again like this. You are forming a baseless prism, so tape the edges together WITHOUT OVERLAPPING!
Prism #2 will also be a rectangular base prism. For this prism, you will fold a piece of the white copy paper in half (the long way), and then fold it in half again like this. You are forming another baseless prism, so tape the edges together WITHOUT OVERLAPPING!
Prism #3 will be a triangular base prism. You will fold a piece of the white copy paper into thirds (the wide way). You are forming another baseless prism, so tape the edges together WITHOUT OVERLAPPING!
Prism #4 will also be a triangular base prism. You will fold a piece of the white copy paper into thirds (the long way). You are forming another baseless prism, so tape the edges together WITHOUT OVERLAPPING!
