Introduction:
This article is the second of a two-part introduction related to the practice of physical therapy in the 21st century. A case was made in Part I for physical therapy in the 21st century to be informed by epidemiology and the global crisis of lifestyle conditions. This part outlines evidence-based assessment and interventions related to physical therapy to assess health and address the risk factors and manifestations of lifestyle conditions. This strategy in which practice is aligned with health care priorities is consistent with contemporary definitions of physical therapy, the definition of health by the World Health Organization (WHO) (2008), and the International Classification of Function (ICF) (2002) that have been adopted.
