Active Shoes

Everyday in physical education we stress safety. That safety starts with you, and that is why I'm asking for your help. Please make sure on P.E. days that your student is equipped with tennis shoes that will enable them to move safely in class.

Please have your child tie their shoes when they have laces. When shoe laces are tucked into the shoe and not securely tied shoes come off in class. When this happens injuries happen. Other students can trip on a shoe that is on the floor, when kicking a shoe comes off the foot and can hot someone, and this leaves a student without a shoe on to protect their foot. When shoes are not tied tight your child could be injured. I want to keep your child and very student safe so please make sure shoes are tied for PE.

Shoes for P.E. DO NOT include Crocs, Sperry's, slip on shoes (ex-BOBS), cowboy boots, fashion boots, flip-flops, dress shoes, wedge heeled shoes, sandals, shoes with small straps on top that leave the top of the foot exposed, open toed/open heeled shoes .

FASHION BOOTS, COWBOY BOOTS, SNOW BOOTS ---Boots, such as cowboy boots and girls fashion boots, can cause safety issues in physical education. Most of these have very little traction and can cause a very slippery outcome on our floor. Some fashion boots have a wedge heel, which can cause the ankle to turn when doing various activities (jogging, jumping, etc.). Be mindful of this when sending your student on physical education days and please send tennis shoes with your student to change into.

Starting in December, class will be trying to win the Golden Shoe Award. A class from each grade level will the Golden shoe if they have the most days with everyone in their class wearing P.E. Shoes. Will this be your Child's Class?
