French V AP

Welcome to FRENCH v !

Level V is an Advanced Placement course and students should have mastered all fundamental grammar concepts and common areas of vocabulary. In AP classes, students are expected to show enthusiasm and commitment to learning. They should be willing to speak French in class and work actively to develop their proficiency. The College Board's AP exam takes place in May and is a stringent test of proficiency. Study is thematic and students listen and read primary source materials.

AP French Language and Culture is equivalent to an intermediate level college course in French. Students cultivate their understanding of French language and culture by applying interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes of communication in real-life situations as they explore concepts related to family and community, personal and public identity, beauty and aesthetics, science and technology, contemporary life, and global challenges.

All PHS French V students participate in the American Association of Teachers of French national competition in March. This is an excellent addition to student college resumes as well as good practice for college placement tests and the French AP test. We will be using varied online tools during the course as well as the LMS (Learning Management System) CANVAS.
