Thinking about joining the military? Some basic info:
There are several branches or "services" in the military. These include the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, and Navy.
Many people join the military for the job security, benefits that are available to themselves and their families, and the sense of patriotism for their country.

Americorps
Americorps
There are 3 types of Americorps programs:
State and National
National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC)
Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)
Each program has opportunities for high school graduates (18 over for NCC and VISTA, 17 for State and National) who may not want to take the "traditional" route after high school. All 3 programs focus on service and members are compensated accordingly. The a few reasons why high school graduates join Americorps is because they:
Enjoy opportunities to serve their community
Are striving for Personal growth and development
Would like to live independently- students will experience living as an independent while serving
Want to reap the benefits- many of the programs offer a generous living allowance, health coverage, an education award, and more.
