At Calculator Vault · Hide Photos, your privacy and data security are our top priorities. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we keep your information safe.
By default, your photos and videos are stored locally on your device, encrypted. We do not operate our own servers for your media. We cannot access, view, or decrypt your vault contents.
If you turn on Backup & Sync with iCloud, encrypted copies of your main vault are stored in your iCloud private database (your Apple ID). That storage belongs to you and is subject to Apple’s iCloud terms and storage limits. We never see your media.
The decoy vault stays on the device only and is not backed up or synced to iCloud.
Backup & Sync is optional (Premium) and is off by default.
The app may appear as a standard calculator interface to help provide additional privacy protection for your personal content.
Access to hidden content requires successful authentication using your PIN, biometric authentication, or recovery key (when recovering access).
We do not require any app account, email registration, or personal information to use the App.
Backup & Sync uses the Apple ID already signed in to iCloud on your device. We do not create a separate account for the App.
We do not track your usage or behavior within the App.
Files saved inside the App are encrypted using AES-256 encryption, an industry-standard encryption technology designed to protect your private content.
When Backup & Sync is on, copies stored in iCloud remain encrypted. We do not have the keys to decrypt your vault.
You can secure access to your vault using:
Main PIN code
Optional Decoy PIN
Face ID / Touch ID
Recovery Key
Decoy PIN allows users to open a separate vault for additional privacy protection.
These credentials are stored using Apple’s security technologies on your device. We do not send your PIN, biometrics, or recovery key to our servers. We do not keep a copy of your recovery key.
Users may also activate Face ID / Touch ID authentication by swiping up on the calculator screen.
Please keep your PIN and recovery key secure. If you lose your PIN, biometric access, and recovery key, we cannot recover your encrypted data. There is no email reset, security question, or developer backdoor.
We request the following permissions for key app functionalities:
Camera: To let you take photos/videos directly into the App, and to scan a recovery key QR code
Photo Library: To import media from your device, and to read a recovery key from an image if you choose
Face ID / Touch ID: To unlock the App securely and conveniently
iCloud: To back up and sync encrypted vault data when you turn on Backup & Sync
We only request permissions that are needed for these features.
You can change permissions in your device settings. Some features may stop working if a permission is turned off.
When you delete a file, it is first moved to the Trash within the App and remains there for 30 days.
You can restore deleted items during this time.
After 30 days, items in Trash are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us.
If Backup & Sync is on, Trash items may also sync to your iCloud as encrypted data. Emptying Trash removes those items from the synced copy according to the App’s sync rules.
Uninstalling the App removes local content on that device, including items in Trash. Uninstalling does not automatically delete your iCloud copy. To remove the cloud copy, use Delete iCloud Copy in the App (or delete this App’s data from iCloud in your device settings). Turning Backup & Sync Off pauses sync on that device; it does not delete the iCloud copy.
Calculator Vault · Hide Photos does not use our own cloud storage or online accounts.
Optional Backup & Sync stores encrypted copies in your iCloud. Restore on a new device requires your recovery key.
We cannot:
Recover deleted files
Recover a forgotten PIN without your recovery key
Recover a lost recovery key
Decrypt your vault or your iCloud copy
Please remember your credentials and keep a copy of your recovery key somewhere safe.
We do not share, sell, or provide your vault contents to any third party.
When you turn on Backup & Sync, encrypted data is stored by Apple in your iCloud under your Apple ID. Apple’s privacy policy and iCloud terms apply to that storage. We cannot read that data.
Your data belongs to you — always.
Calculator Vault · Hide Photos is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements, feature updates, or legal requirements.
You will be notified through the App if any significant changes are made.
