It is crucial to understand how your time will be scheduled during SXSW and to know that we cannot accommodate shift or assignment requests.
Your Schedule is the six days during SXSW that you will shoot for the Photo Crew
Availability refers to your ability to cover assignments any time, day or evening (9am-2am), on the six days of your schedule during SXSW
A Shift refers to a predefined period of time during which a photographer completes their assignments. There are three types of shifts.
DAY Shift: 9am - 6pm | *MID Shift: 3pm - 11pm | NIGHT Shift: 6pm - 2am
*Some Mid shifts may be more like 2pm - 10pm
Your Assignments are the events we assign you to cover during your shift on each day of your six-day schedule
There are two mandatory days that all Photo Crew members must work: Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14
You will choose the remaining four days of your shooting schedule when you are accepted to the Photo Crew
You must be available to shoot anytime, day or evening (9am-2am), on each of the six days of your schedule
You will be emailed your shift assignments for each day of your six-day shooting schedule on or before Feb 25, 2026
You will be assigned to one shift per day of your schedule
We are unable to accommodate shift requests. Shift assignments are based on multiple inflexible factors including volume of photo coverage requested. (Please refer to prior Availability statement above)
Your assignments for your entire six-day schedule will be emailed to you on Sunday, March 8
Everything is subject to change, so you may receive assignment updates via email at any time after March 8
Your assignments will fall within the start and end time of your shift each day
On average you will be given three to four assignments per day
If your assignment is a Music Showcase that will be your only assignment that day
No early assignments on a day following a late night assignment
