If you have any gently-used shoes you can donate, please bring them in this week.
B. The next concert is Tuesday, December 17
Concert Season Uniforms:
As the marching season finally draws to a close, we start looking ahead to a lovely concert season.
The fall concert was just a look at all of the great music that lies ahead for our students.
The concert uniform is as follows:
If your student has been issued a tuxedo, please look to acquire the following to accompany it:
A white "tuxedo shirt" (pleated front) and a bowtie. A cummerbund really cleans up the look
Black dress shoes, though marching shoes can be used (just clean them up after a season outdoors!)
If your student has not been issued a tuxedo:
Plain black dress pants (not jeans) and a simple black top.
Black shoes
If you have any difficult providing any portion of the uniform, please reach out at least a week before the concert so we can help.
C. DC Trip
The next $300 payment is due for the Washington DC trip

Replace the XX with the last two digits of your student’s graduation year
K. Earn money for your travel accounts by doing your normal shopping ( http://RaiseRight.com ) :
Download the RaiseRight fundraising app. (You can also access RaiseRight through their website, RaiseRight.com.)
Select “join a program”. You’ll need an email address and the organization code for PHN Bands. It is L229E6A2336LL.
You will be asked to enter the name of the student for whom you are fundraising, the teacher name (Erick Senkmajer) and finally, a bank account, debit card, or credit card information for future payments.
Depending on how you decide to link your account, the RaiseRight organization may make a couple of micro-deposits into your account, then ask for you to verify the amounts to ensure that you are linking a valid account.
After that, you will be able to use the app or website to purchase physical gift cards, electronic gift cards, reloadable cards, and even shop online at hundreds of retailers. Each retailer denotes the percent of the purchase that will be credited to the organization. (Often, there will be “bonus rebates” that are at a higher rate as well.) Rebates are shared between the general band account and your student account. (Rebates are reported to the booster treasurer approximately every 2 months to be deposited into accounts, which you will be able to see in Cut Time.)
When ordering physical gift cards, the deadline is usually 11:59 PM on the second Thursday of the month, and distributed mid-week, the following week.
When choosing the e-gift card, those are normally available within minutes. It is common for members of our program to order an e-gift card on their phone as they approach the checkout, and be able to use it once everything is scanned.
Want to see where you can use these physical and e-gift cards? https://www.raiseright.com/brands
L. Upcoming Playing Eval
I hear the students play something individually about once every 4-6 weeks
We are currently working “Exercises 4.”
We work the materials every day for about a week
Students are assigned a portion of the materials: Students are given the opportunity to choose the difficulty level of each portion of the test
That specific assignment is reviewed *daily* for at least another week
Students are offered opportunities to ask questions on the assignment every day
As assignment deadline nears, students are reminded daily exactly what is on the eval
Once announced, we run the exact playing eval in class at least once every day
Specific instructions for upload are included in the assignment in Schoology
Students are encouraged to record the assignment on their own time and upload it to Schoology ASAP
Students are daily encouraged to record *something* and get it uploaded. They are welcome to upload revisions as many times as they want
The night of the deadline, students are expected to upload ONLY 1, unedited audio and video containing the playing eval
The day after the deadline, students are given a final opportunity to “play off” their eval in class
If for some reason the student does not have their instrument on the day of the deadline, they will be offered the opportunity to use a school instrument so they can earn credit
Students that play large instruments can come in before school, after school or during any lunch to make their recording.
Students often record in the first or last few minutes of class
The freshman evals typically take between 30 - 45 seconds
Symphonic Band evals typically take between 45 - 90 seconds
Wind Ensemble evals typically take between 1 - 2 minutes
